Strengthening mobilization and military registration for women. Is it true that everyone will be drafted

The government is considering the possibilities of increasing mobilization, and one of the important topics has become the issue of military registration for women. This idea caused considerable indignation among Ukrainian women, so much so that some were ready to renounce their citizenship due to dissatisfaction with the politicians' proposals. What steps is the government ready to take and what may be the consequences of these decisions.

Representatives of the Ukrainian establishment signal that it will not be possible to avoid increased mobilization. In particular, the discussion about military registration for women has been raised, which causes various reactions in society. For example, People's Deputy Maryana Bezugla expressed the idea of considering the possibility of expanding the list of specialties for mandatory military registration for women, including a wide range of professions.

However, the majority of women and representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces did not support this initiative. The discussion raised the question of whether the government has the right to change the status of military registration for women, as well as whether the system of territorial recruitment can effectively cope with such a task.

Against this background, public interest in possible changes seems ambiguous. Women who are already part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine make up a certain percentage of the total number of servicemen, and they already have their contribution to the defense of the country. However, the idea of mandatory military registration for a wider range of women's specialties causes outrage and doubts among the public.

During a press conference on December 19, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi resolutely rejected the idea of mobilizing women, stating: "I will not sign the mobilization of women." This decision is marked by its determination and attention to the gender aspects of military mobilization.

According to ATO veteran and military expert Yevhen Dyky, the initiative to mobilize women is currently only Maryana Bezugloi's personal opinion and does not find support among the military. He emphasizes that the army does not consider alternative scenarios and that no document or draft law on this account is being developed at the level of parliament or committees.

Dykiy also noted that the mobilization of women under the conditions of military registration and restrictions on their travel abroad can significantly affect the morale of soldiers who are already on the front lines, because it can affect their confidence in the safety of their families. Such a step, according to him, can severely affect the morale of the defenders and disturb the inner peace of those who are fighting for the security of their country.
