The return of emergency blackouts: Ukraine faces the consequences of Russian shelling

After the offensive of Russian troops and shelling, problems with electricity supply appeared again in a number of regions of Ukraine. The DTEK organization reported that due to the consequences of these shellings, electricity will have to be turned off for domestic consumers throughout the country.

According to the DTEK organization, electricity for household consumers will have to be turned off in a number of regions due to the consequences of Russian shelling.

In Ukraine, power outage schedules began to operate again. This applies to several regions across the country at once. They wrote about this in the DTEK Telegram channel on May 15.

Ukrainians were warned that the extremely difficult situation in the energy system, which is related to the shelling of the Russian Armed Forces, has not gone anywhere, therefore, on the instructions of "Ukrenergo", a decision was made to implement emergency shutdowns again.

This applies to residents of Kyiv, as well as Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Donetsk regions. In the listed regions, power outage schedules may apply in the near future.

"We are doing everything possible to stabilize the situation as soon as possible. If you have light in your house now, please use it wisely. This will greatly help the power system," DTEK wrote.

A blackout has also been introduced in the western part of Ukraine, as announced on the "Lvivoblenergo" page on the Facebook social network. According to the organization, emergency power outage schedules have been implemented in Lviv and the region since 19:27. It is connected with the same thing that was written about in DTEK.

"The reason is a power shortage due to massive attacks by the occupiers on the energy system of Ukraine," the report says.

At the same time, it was reported that the light has already partially disappeared in the Kyiv and Lviv regions.

For its part, Ukrenergo wrote that controlled emergency shutdowns for industrial and household consumers will operate for residents of all Ukrainian regions from 19:25 to 22:00. Power outage schedules will also be in effect on May 16.

We will remind that "Ukrenergo" warned about possible disconnections on Wednesday as early as May 14. This is due to the consequences of shelling by the Russian occupiers, as well as a sharp cooling. The blackout schedules are supposed to be in effect during the day, but there were no plans to restrict critical infrastructure.

It was also reported that the Ministry of Energy warned Ukrainians about summer shutdowns and a difficult winter ahead. According to Herman Galushchenko, over the past few months, the Ukrainian energy system has suffered the greatest destruction since the beginning of a full-scale war, so there may be restrictions even in the summer season.
