Law enforcement officers of Ukraine detained 116 people for crimes involving weapons and drugs

Law enforcement officers of Ukraine conducted large-scale special operations, as a result of which channels for the sale of weapons, military supplies, and narcotics were blocked. The Prosecutor General's Office reported that 116 people received suspicions.

In particular, 49 people are suspected of illegal storage and sale of weapons and ammunition, as well as of misappropriation of weapons (Article 263, Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Another 67 people are suspected of illegal drug trafficking (Article 307, Article 309, Article 255 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers conducted more than 129 searches, as a result of which they seized a significant amount of weapons and ammunition, including 12 mortar and anti-tank mines, 187 grenade launchers, 85 automatic and machine guns, 20 homemade firearms, 170 grenades, and almost 38,000 rounds of ammunition.

Also, more than 69 searches were conducted in several regions of Ukraine, revealing psychotropic substances worth more than UAH 15.5 million, including 15 kg of amphetamine and more than 7,000 MDMA tablets.

The investigation established that the suspects used Telegram in 2024 to sell drugs through "bookmarks" and the postal service, including in the frontline regions. 11 suspects are accused of selling drugs as part of a criminal organization.

During the searches, the activity of the laboratory for the production of narcotics was also stopped. Currently, the process of selecting preventive measures for the suspect is ongoing.
