In the Kiev region, a criminal scheme of illegal seizure of municipal lands was exposed, as a result of which the attackers were privately owned by 47 land plots with a total area of more than 24 hectares. This was reported by the National Police press service.
Residents of Kyiv and Lviv region, as well as a private notary were involved in the scheme. According to the investigation, scammers used counterfeit documents - in particular, counterfeit extracts from decisions of local councils, which were about the transfer of land to private property. It was on the basis of these "decisions" that the notary entered data to the State Register of Property Rights, formulating plots on controlled persons.
After legalization of land rights, the plots were sold to bona fide buyers who were not suspected of fraudulent origin of property. Experts estimate that the total losses caused by communities exceed UAH 11 million.
Currently, all 47 sections have been arrested. Law enforcement officers reported suspicion to three participants in the criminal group. They are charged with fraud, legalization of criminal proceeds, and unauthorized actions with information in automated systems.
According to the most severe of these articles, the persons involved are threatened with up to eight years in prison.
The investigation is ongoing. The police check whether the persons involved in other similar schemes in the region are involved.
