Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation together with the Security Service of Ukraine and the internal security of the State Border Service detained the deputy chief of one of the departments of the law enforcement agency of Ivano-Frankivsk region. He is suspected of systematic sale of closed data from state registers.
According to the DBR, the official regularly transferred confidential information for the money, including the search of persons, restrictions on traveling abroad and other personal information. He made access to the registers through a personal electronic key.
Since February 2025, the attacker has managed to illegally transmit information about at least 43 people. For this he received about $ 2,000. He has now been declared suspected under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - demanding and receiving undue benefit by an official.
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 10 years with confiscation of property. The DBR is already preparing a petition in court for the election of a preventive measure - detention, as well as the removal of the person from the position from office at the time of the investigation.
