Orthodox calendar for 2025: celebration in a new style

From 2025, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine switched to the New Julian calendar, which means that all non-transitional holidays are celebrated 13 days earlier than according to the old style. Here are the important dates of church holidays in 2025:

  1. January 1 - Basil's Day, Circumcision of the Lord
  2. January 6 – Epiphany (Baptism)
  3. January 12 – Holy Martyr Tatiana
  4. January 30 - Saints Basil, Grigory and Ivan
  5. February 2 - the meeting of the Lord
  6. February 23 - meat-free week
  7. March 2 - Syropusna (Forgiven) Sunday
  8. March 3 - the beginning of Great Lent
  9. March 25 – Annunciation of the Holy Mother of God
  10. March 26 – Cathedral of the Archangel Gabriel
  11. April 6 - Cyril and Methodius of Thessalonica
  12. April 12 - Lazarus Saturday
  13. April 13 - Palm Sunday (The Lord's Entry into Jerusalem)
  14. April 17 - Maundy Thursday
  15. April 18 – Good Friday
  16. April 19 - Great Saturday. End of Lent
  17. April 20 - Easter 2025
  18. April 23 - St. George the Wonderworker
  19. May 9 – Transfer of the powers of Nicholas the Wonderworker
  20. May 11 - Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius
  21. May 29 - Ascension of the Lord
  22. June 8 – Trinity 2025 (Pentecost)
  23. June 9 - Holy Spirit Day
  24. June 16 - the beginning of Peter's fast
  25. June 22 is the Day of All Saints of the Ukrainian People
  26. June 24 - the Nativity of John the Baptist
  27. June 29 - Apostles Peter and Paul
  28. June 30 – Cathedral of the 12 Apostles
  29. July 11 – Princess Olga of Kyiv, the end of Peter's fast
  30. July 15 – Prince Volodymyr the Great, Baptism Day of Kyivan Rus
  31. July 20 - Prophet Ilya
  32. August 1 - the beginning of the Assumption fast
  33. August 6 – Transfiguration of the Lord
  34. August 15 – Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
  35. August 29 – All Saints of the Head of John the Baptist
  36. September 8 - Nativity of the Holy Mother of God
  37. September 14 – Exaltation of the Holy Cross
  38. October 1 - Intercession of the Holy Mother of God
  39. October 26 - Great Martyr Dmytro
  40. November 8 – Cathedral of the Archangel Michael
  41. November 15 - the beginning of the Christmas fast
  42. November 21 – Introduction to the Church of the Holy Mother of God
  43. November 30 - Andrii the First-Called
  44. December 6 - Nicholas the Wonderworker
  45. December 9 – Conception of the Holy Mother of God
  46. December 22 – Great Martyr Anastasia
  47. December 24 – Christmas Eve, the end of the Christmas fast
  48. December 25 - Christmas
  49. December 26 – Cathedral of the Holy Mother of God
  50. December 27 – First Martyr Stephen
  51. December 31 – Saint Melania of Rome

The transition to the New Julian calendar allows Orthodox holidays to coincide with Catholic holidays in dates for non-transitional holidays, while Easter and related holidays remain according to the old calculation method.
