In Ukraine, periodic fishing prohibitions aimed at preserving fish resources and maintaining an environmental balance in reservoirs are in force during the year. These restrictions apply to both certain periods and specific places.
When in Ukraine there is a ban on fishing
According to the "rules of amateur fishing" in Ukraine it is forbidden to fish:
- when spawning - from April 1 to May 30 /June 19, inclusive (on rivers and their tributaries /in reservoirs, lakes, bays, respectively);
- During its wintering - from November 1 until the start of spawning (this time is established annually by a fisherman).
The exact terms when a fishing ban ends, they can be adjusted. For example, during wintering, it is not allowed to fish in winter pits. These terms may also depend on when a certain type of fish, the region and reservoirs spawn.
In 2023, a new ban appeared - from February 15 to March 31 it is forbidden to catch pike (a fine for illegal catching of one instance of the pike - 3 468 UAH, or criminal liability may occur).
until June 30 (fine - UAH 3332 for each caught cancer or may be criminal liability) continues After the ban, you can catch no more than 30 crabs a day.
Earlier, we have told in detail what penalties are provided for those who violate fishing or fish in unauthorized places.
In this case, fishing rules allow fish fishing and during the period of prohibitions, but exclusively in places from a special list within settlements.
The ban on fishing in wartime applies primarily to the commencing hour - during this period of time it is impossible to catch fish. They do it primarily for the safety and maintenance of fishermen's lives.
What is the rate of fishing in Ukraine
In Ukraine, there are norms for how many fish can be caught per person per day (calendar). One fisherman during this time is allowed to catch 3 kg of fish (one species), as well as one fish of the allowed species and size (it is also called "trophy"). For example, it can be catfish with a minimum length of at least 60-80 cm or walleye-42 cm long.
These norms are spelled out in Annex 2 to the "Rules of amateur Fisheries". At the same time, during spawning, one fisherman can use one fishing rod - float or bottom - but with two hooks, or spinning with one artificial bait. You can also catch fish only from the shore of a lake or river. After spawning (and prohibitions) allow one fisherman to use up to 7 hooks.
What kinds of fish can be caught without restrictions in Ukraine
The updated "rules of amateur fishing" abolished the norm of catching some species of fish - here, in particular, belong to sunshine, ratan, tulle, blue, and top. Also in the rules appeared the norm of "craft" (it is a fish smaller than the norm) - it can be no more than 10% in catch.
