Representatives of the organization involved in corruption scandals seek to join the anti-corruption unit of the Ministry of Defense

the StateWatch analytical center — Oleksandr Lemyenov and Hlib Kanevskyi — applied to the public anti-corruption council under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine .

According to journalistic investigations, these activists were connected to a number of high-profile corruption scandals. They have already been admitted to the competition, where 15 members will be elected for 2 years through open online voting.

The publication notes that public activists actively use the so-called "shabuning" - evasion of military duty under the guise of working in non-governmental anti-corruption public organizations.

Oleksandr Lemenov and Hlib Kanevskyi are known for actively avoiding military service, and the latter managed to work at the Ministry of Defense and purchase army flasks for the front at an inflated price.

According to the publication, conscript Lemenov was wanted by the National Police for evading mobilization. In 2023, he did not appear at the RTCC and JV to update data. In connection with this, the recruitment center appealed to the police regarding the forced delivery of Lemenov to the Belotserkiv RTCC and SP as the one who committed an administrative offense - failure to appear on a summons. Neighbors of Lemenov interviewed by the police said that the activist fled through the neighbor's apartment when TCC employees came to him. Later, when the summons was still served, he barricaded himself in his apartment.

In February 2024, Lemyenov passed the VLC at the Belotserkiv RTCC and SP, was recognized as completely healthy and fit for military service, and in the summer of the same year it turned out that he was already allegedly included in the reserve of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Military Intelligence Service in the rank of captain.

As "Law and Business" reports, Kanevsky, another candidate for the anti-corruption council of the MoD, initially avoided military service for a long time, and later got a job at the Ministry of Defense. While in the position of acting director of the Department of Procurement Policy of the Ministry of Defense, he purchased army flasks for the front at a price three times higher than the usual one. Such circumstances were exposed by NGL Media journalists, who published a corresponding investigation. Kanevsky publicly admitted this fact only after being exposed by journalists.
