President Zelenskyy signed a decree on sanctions against traitors

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to impose sanctions against individuals suspected of treason. He signed the relevant decree on Sunday, as he announced in his video address posted on Telegram.

“I have just signed a decree that gives force to the NSDC decision on sanctions. We are blocking propagandists working for Russia, people who have defected to the enemy, and those who help Russia continue the war. We also continue to deprive them of state awards. Only those who truly dedicate their lives to Ukraine deserve the title of Hero of Ukraine,” the head of state noted.

Zelensky added that new sanctions decisions are currently being prepared.

“They will be here soon,” the president promised.

According to the appendix to the published Decree of Zelensky, there are 18 people on the sanctions list. Among them: people's deputies Nestor Shufrych, Yuriy Boyko, leader of the banned party "Nashi" Yevhen Murayev, also head of the banned Communist Party Petro Symonenko, ex-people's deputy Oleg Voloshyn, ex-people's deputy Leonid Baysarov. In particular, Boyko was deprived of the title of Hero of Ukraine, which he received in 2004 "for outstanding personal services to the Ukrainian state in the development of the fuel and energy complex, many years of selfless work.".

Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasyuk detailed the document on Facebook.

“As a result of the application of sanctions, Yuriy Boyko, Nestor Shufrych, Leonid Baysarov, Leonid Litvynov, Oleksandr Odnoralenko, Yevgeny Gorokhov, Yuriy Bashmet, Vasyl Gerello, Sergey Karyakin, Vadym Pisarev, Ilya Reznik, Ruzhena Rublyova, and Viktor Sadovnychy were deprived of state awards,” he informs.

It is noted that Ruzhena Rublyova is a People's Artist of Ukraine who defected to the Russian Federation and performed accompanied by the "Choir of the Russian National Guard" during a concert dedicated to Russia's occupation of the territories of Ukraine;

Vadym Pisarev, a ballet dancer who continued his creative activity in the territory of the self-proclaimed DPR, collaborating with the occupation authorities;

Sergey Karyakin, a chess player who defected to Russia, became a member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation from the occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and is spreading propaganda narratives;

Leonid Litvinov and Leonid Baysarov are former members of the Party of Regions who support the Russian Federation;

Yevhen Gorokhov is the rector of the Donbass National Academy, who took the position of Minister of Education and Science of the DPR and collaborated with the occupiers.

Svitlana Kryukova and Konstantin Grigorishyn are also on the sanctions list.

Other information regarding these sanctions

As UNIAN reported, yesterday the President of Ukraine announced that the National Security and Defense Council is expected to introduce new sanctions.

At the same time, he added that he highly appreciated the work of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies - the SBU, the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Police, and the Prosecutor's Office - in countering "traitors and various schemes that weakened our state, our Ukrainian society.".
