The president dismissed Vityuk from the position of head of the Cyber Security Department of the SBU

On May 1, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy terminated the authority of Ilya Vityuk as head of the Department of Counterintelligence Protection of State Interests in the Information Security Sector of the Security Service of Ukraine.

The corresponding decree was published on the official website of the president. In the declaration for 2023, Vytyuk mentioned an apartment worth 12.8 million hryvnias, but the Slidstvo.Info agency established that its market value may exceed 20 million hryvnias. Vityuk's declared salary was 1.8 million hryvnias per year.

In 2022, his wife, Yuliya Vityuk, founded a private limited company to provide legal services, from which she received 9.4 million hryvnias in profit in 2022 and 13.4 million hryvnias in 2023. The journalists of "Slidstva.Info" could not find information about the activities of FOP Yulia Vityuk.

On April 9, 2024, it became known that the Security Service of Ukraine had begun to verify the circumstances published by Slidstvo-info journalists.

The head of the Security Service, Vasyl Malyuk, suspended Vityuk from performing his duties for the period of the inspection and assigned him to the combat unit of the SBU, which operates at the front.

On April 16, 2024, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption began an investigation into Ilya Vityuk's lifestyle. The basis for this was the investigation of "Slidstva.Info", where the editors found that the Vityuk family owns real estate, the market value of which is at least 25.5 million hryvnias.

On April 25, detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau announced that they are investigating the circumstances of the purchase of real estate by members of Ilya Vityuk's family, given in the investigation.

Ilya Anatoliyovych Vityuk is a Ukrainian military man, special service officer, brigadier general of the Security Service of Ukraine. He managed the Department of counterintelligence protection of state interests in the field of information security.

During his service, he took part in numerous operational and managerial positions in regional offices and the Central Office of the SBU. He also took part in the Anti-terrorist operation in Donbas.

From August 1, 2021, he temporarily performed his duties, and from November 30, 2021, he was appointed to the position of head of the Department of Counterintelligence Protection of the State's Interests in the Field of Information Security of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Under his leadership, counter-intelligence officers of the Department carried out a number of cyber operations, including blocking dangerous cyber attacks by Russian special services on critical infrastructure objects, uncovering the activities of the hacking unit of the FSB of the Russian Federation "Gamaredon" and detaining members of international hacking groups.

In April 2024, Slidstva.Info journalists published an article stating that Ilya Vityuk, being an operative of the SBU, filmed on his phone the shooting of protesters on Independence Square during the Revolution of Dignity on February 20, 2014. Investigators could not identify the person who took the picture for a long time, and questioned him only in 2019. Serhiy Horbatyuk, the ex-head of the Maidan Crime Investigation Department, noted that Vityuk, as a representative of law enforcement agencies, should have turned to the investigation department with this information on his own, but he did not do so.
