President Volodymyr Zelenskyy categorically rejected the possibility of peace talks with Russia in Belarus. He stated this at a closed meeting with Ukrainian journalists, Glavkom reports.
According to the Head of State, Moscow's proposal for Minsk as a potential place for negotiations is unacceptable, because it was from the Belarusian territory at the beginning of a full -scale invasion of Russia launched rockets in Ukraine. Also from Belarus came the troops of the Russian Federation.
“Belarus is today a country from which rockets have flew, and accordingly it is an ally of the country that attacked us. It is simply impossible for Belarus, ”Zelensky emphasized.
He also added that such a proposal seems as an attempt to tighten the process and stressed that if the Russian side is not ready for the end of the war, it should state it directly, not imitate the dialogue through unacceptable formats.
Zelensky called Turkey, the Vatican and Switzerland as acceptable neutral sites for possible negotiations.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Minister Serhiy Lavrov stated that Moscow was preparing a document on "settlement of war", which was planned to be transferred to Kiev after the exchange of prisoners under the formula "1000 to 1000". At the same time, he noted that Russia "regardless of provocations" continues to work on the so -called "peace process".
The context for this next information excite by the Kremlin is to prepare for a peaceful summit in Switzerland, which will be held in June. Moscow is not invited to him, but persistently promotes alternative scenarios.
