Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced the start of the Great Privatization

At today's press conference, Denys Shmyhal said that investors' interest in Ukrainian enterprises is very high, and the government continues to establish communication with partners for further investments in the country.

Large-scale privatization in Ukraine is to be resumed in 2024. The state has already decided on the objects that may receive new owners. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at the annual press conference on Monday, March 4.

"We urge investors, in particular, Western partners, to look at the facilities. The interest is very high. And if we don't see a quick entry today, we understand that we are really doing a lot of work on communication, on communicating with our partners from the point of view of investors entering Ukraine," the head of government said.

Among the objects that the Ukrainian government plans to sell in 2024 are various enterprises from different sectors of the economy. Among them, the following can be distinguished:

  1. Energy facilities : The government is considering the privatization of some energy enterprises, including power plants and distribution companies, which would contribute to the modernization of the energy sector and increase its competitiveness.
  2. Machine-building plants : The government plans to sell some machine-building enterprises that specialize in the production of vehicles, agricultural machinery, and other machinery and equipment.
  3. Chemical and oil refining industry : The list of privatization objects also includes enterprises engaged in the chemical and oil refining industries, which may be of interest to investors from these industries.
  4. Tourist and hotel complexes : The government is considering the possibility of selling some tourist and hotel complexes, which will contribute to the development of tourism infrastructure and attracting foreign tourists.

“These are the areas that are important today, interesting for investors, interesting for us as a country, in order to boost the economy,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine emphasized.

At the same time, small-scale privatization in Ukraine, according to Shmyhal, is already "giving quite significant results" not only for state-owned, but also for small and medium-sized businesses.

“Among the projects for foreign investors, the most important and promising is the extraction of critical raw materials: 22 types out of 30 types of critical raw materials are available in Ukraine today.
