The Tax Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine put forward an initiative to create a Special Economic Prosecutor's Office, which will be responsible for procedural management in cases investigated by the Bureau of Economic Security.
The deputy chairman of the committee, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, expressed the opinion that such a new body can increase the efficiency of the Bureau of Economic Security. He noted that the prosecutor's office lacks sufficient protection and support for business, and also noted problems with the competence and integrity of prosecutors conducting procedural management in criminal cases of the Bureau of Economic Security. Thus, the creation of the Special Economic Prosecutor's Office can solve these problems.
It is planned that the draft law on amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the Criminal Code of Ukraine and other laws of Ukraine regarding the implementation of the activities of the Specialized Economic Prosecutor's Office will soon be registered in the parliament.
