Singer and producer of the national selection for Junior Eurovision 2025 Svitlana Tarabarova expressed her indignation at the evaluation of Ukraine at the competition, where young singer Sofia Nersesyan won a silver medal with the song "Motanka".
According to Tarabarova, the result of the competition was unfair, because Sofia had every chance of winning, but, according to her, the participants did not provide proper support. “When Sofia and the girl from France were shown on the screen, and when the fight for first place was going on, I saw how much they did not want us to win. No one supported us,” the singer noted in an interview with Valeria Tatarchuk.
Tarabarova also stressed that, although this is a children's competition, the evaluation was politicized. Ukraine won first place in the audience vote, but the judges gave low scores, while other participants who performed songs that were not quite high quality received high marks. “No country gave 12 points. We were given low scores, and others – even for songs that are very simple, on three notes, they gave 10 or 12,” she added.
Despite this, Tarabarova noted that Ukraine is grateful for the support of the audience, thanks to which Sofia was able to rise to the top in the popular vote. The artist emphasized that this proves the importance of the audience's assessment, because their opinion cannot be deceived.
