The grocery basket in Ukraine has risen a third since the beginning of the year

Against the background of inflation growth in Ukraine, basic foods have increased significantly. Since the beginning of 2025, the cost of a standard product basket has increased by 25-30%, as reported by “News.Live” with reference to the data of the Ministry of Finance.

The most sharp rise in price touched fruits, vegetables and dairy products. Apples were the absolute record holder - their price took off by more than 106%, from UAH 20.49 to 42.31 UAH per kilogram. Potatoes and milk were also added to the price of more than 30%. At the same time, experts predict a small cheaper of dairy products in March - approximately 2.5-5% due to the increase in production.

There are also products that have hardly changed. Thus, onions went up by only 1.4%, and rice and hard cheese increased by 3.9% and 5.4%, respectively.

Experts explain that the increase in the cost of food is associated not only with inflation, which in the annual dimension reached 13.4%, but also with a poor last year's crop, the rise in electricity and an increase in logistics costs. These factors together created the perfect storm for rising prices.

Analysts are warning that a similar trend can continue, although some seasonal products can be temporarily cheaper in the spring. However, for many Ukrainian families, this is a real financial crisis - another call at a time when every hryvnia is on account.
