According to the message of the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyryl Budanov, Ukrainian troops plan to strengthen their positions and stabilize the situation at the front in the Kharkiv region over the next few days. However, according to him, Russia is preparing for a new offensive north of Kharkiv, in the Sumy region.
The predicted attacks in the Kharkiv region will continue for another three to four days, after which the Russian troops should carry out a strong strike in the direction of Sumy. Previous statements by Ukrainian officials indicated the concentration of Russian troops near the border from the Sumy side.
Pavlo Velichko, a Ukrainian officer operating in the area of the Russian border in the Sumy region, noted that shelling of the outskirts of Sumy has increased recently. However, he emphasized that their readiness for combat does not change.
Last week, Russian troops crossed the border in the north of the Kharkiv region and captured several settlements. Fighting is currently ongoing in the area of the northern outskirts of the city of Vovchansk, and according to the DeepState project, the village of Lukyantsi has already come under the control of Russian troops.
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Lytvynenko said that more than 30,000 Russian troops are participating in the offensive. We will remind that Kyrylo Budanov previously emphasized the complexity of the situation in Ukraine from mid-May to the beginning of June, but believes that "Armageddon will not happen."
