The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center reports that January 2025 will be warmer than the long-term average. According to the forecast, the average monthly temperature in most regions will range from 0° to -3° of frost, and in the south and Transcarpathia it will even reach +2°.
According to forecasters, such temperature indicators exceed the climatic norm by 1.5-2°C. The highest temperatures are expected in Odesa, Kherson regions, Crimea and Transcarpathia.
As for precipitation, it will vary from 32 to 79 mm, which corresponds to the multi-year norm for this period.
The weather will remain stable until the end of 2024. According to forecaster Nataliya Ptuha, the main weather events are expected on the eve of the holidays:
- December 25 : wet snow is possible in the western and northern regions, moderate snow in the Carpathians, rain in the south.
- December 26 : precipitation will stop in the western and northern regions, but will still linger in the central, eastern and southern regions.
- December 27-28 : the influence of an anticyclone will ensure dry weather with clearings, which will contribute to a decrease in night temperatures.
Experts associate the abnormally warm winter with global climate changes, which have increasingly affected the weather in Ukraine in recent years. The absence of severe frosts may contribute to a more comfortable winter season, but this trend raises concerns about the long-term environmental consequences.
