The Prosecutor General's Office provides procedural guidance in a number of criminal proceedings against well -known businessmen and former high -ranking officials under the sanctions of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). In total, five cases are investigated in which the persons involved are charged with serious and particularly serious crimes.
In particular, in December 2021, the fifth President of Ukraine was reported suspected of treason and assisting the activities of terrorist organizations. At the same time, the same criminal proceeding is an exper: the forbidden Party of the IPZH, which has also been charged.
The investigation believes that in the period from November 2014 to January 2015, these persons, together with representatives of the political leadership of the Russian Federation, contributed to the supply of coal from the occupied territories, which brought to LNR and DNR fighters more than 3 billion UAH. As a result, Ukraine has increased its energy dependence on Russia.
The investigation in this case was completed in September 2022, but the process is delayed by familiarizing the protection party with the materials. Prosecutors appealed to the court to restrict this process by the end of March 2025.
The former MP and the OPZZ leader also appears in another criminal proceeding. He is accused of treason and violation of the laws and customs of war.
According to the investigation, he:
- contributed to Russian officials in the robbery
- conveyed secret information on the location of the Ukrainian military unit,
- provided the activity of the network of influence that formed a favorable Russian opinion in Ukraine.
Currently, the indictment in this case is already under consideration of the court.
In addition to politicians, the Prosecutor General's office is investigating cases against three well -known businessmen who have come under NSDC sanctions. Details about their crimes are not yet disclosed.
The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers insist on the need to bring these cases to a court sentence.
