Prosecutor Oleksandr Maleev, who became a figure in the scandal after his family participated in the TV project "Supermama", avoided dismissal by taking maternity leave.
The Prosecutor General's Office has issued an order to dismiss the Deputy Head of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office, Oleksandr Maleev. The reason for this was the submission of the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of Prosecutors, which took into account the results of the NACP's inspection. The agency found that the official's declaration contained inaccurate information.
The reason for the inspection was the high-profile show "Supermama", where Maleyev, along with his ex- and current wives, discussed expensive childbirth in the United States, luxury housing, and financial support from a prosecutor. These details raised doubts about the legality of his wealth.
On July 9, the KDKP filed a petition for dismissal, and on July 23, the Prosecutor General's Office issued an order. But the very next day after the commission's decision, the prosecutor issued a leave to care for a child up to three years old — until September 2026.
Journalists found out that on the show, the prosecutor's wife said her daughter's age was 10 months. Maleev himself stated in his explanations that the filming took place in July 2024, which means that the child was a little under two years old at the time.
When asked by journalists about the reasons for such a step, the prosecutor replied: “Why do we have such a right granted by law?” His lawyer noted that an employer cannot fire an employee who is on parental leave, although the key question is whether he took the leave before or after the order was issued.
Maleev is currently appealing his dismissal in the Kyiv District Administrative Court, where the case is being considered to overturn the order and reinstate him.
