Prosecutor Albert Shapovalov declared 5.3 million hryvnias in cash savings in his annual tax return for 2024. The amount attracted attention given the official's official income: his annual salary was about 1.3 million hryvnias.
The document lists Shapovalov as a prosecutor in one of the departments of the Prosecutor General's Office. However, in September 2025, he was promoted and took up the position of First Deputy Prosecutor of the Volyn Region.
According to the declaration, the prosecutor's family uses an apartment in Donetsk and also rents housing in Kyiv. The family owns a 2015 Toyota Avalon, a 2012 Mazda CX-5, and the official's wife owns a 2005 Toyota Camry. In addition, more than 136 thousand hryvnias of cryptocurrency assets were declared.
At the same time, the volume of cash savings raises the most questions. This is not the first time Albert Shapovalov has declared millions in cash - similar figures have been recorded since at least 2018 and have remained consistently high over the following years.
Formally, all assets are included in the declaration in accordance with the requirements of the law. However, the ratio of official income and accumulated cash traditionally becomes a subject of public attention and raises questions about the sources of such savings.
