Despite the lack of direct movement of military equipment and personnel near the Ukrainian border, the direction from Belarus remains potentially threatening. This was announced by the spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, during a telethon broadcast.
Demchenko emphasized that the situation on the border with Belarus remains stable. The Defense Forces of Ukraine fully control the border line, and at the moment no non-standard situations have been recorded directly on the state border. According to him, intelligence constantly monitors what is happening deep within the territory of Belarus in order to promptly respond to possible changes and be ready for any actions from the Belarusian side.
"In the immediate vicinity of our border, we do not note or observe the movement of equipment or personnel," Demchenko noted. However, he also added that this direction remains threatening due to the continued influence of Russia on Belarus.
Demchenko emphasized that Russia can put pressure on Belarus in order to involve it in the war on a larger scale. The Ukrainian side is actively strengthening the border and fortifications to ensure readiness for possible attacks from the territory of Belarus, regardless of whether these attacks will be carried out by Belarusian units or Russian forces.
It is important to note that at this moment Russia does not have a sufficient grouping of forces on the territory of Belarus for a possible invasion of the territory of Ukraine, which Demchenko emphasized.
However, according to the information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, which is based on intelligence data, there is a concentration of a large number of personnel in Belarus, including special operations forces, weapons and military equipment on the border with Ukraine. This is happening under the guise of training, but it is worrying.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that Belarus has deployed tanks, artillery, anti-aircraft missiles, and engineering equipment in the Gomel region near the northern borders of Ukraine. In addition, the presence of mercenaries of the former PMK "Wagner" was recorded, which further exacerbates the situation.
