Border guards of the Mukachevo detachment detained a minibus with 17 men who tried to illegally cross the border with Hungary. This was reported by the Western Regional Office of the State Border Service on June 30.
"The car was stopped 200 meters from the state border. It included 17 men from different regions of Ukraine - Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia. All of them aimed to enter Hungary illegally," the message reads.
According to border guards, each of the men had to pay from 3 to 12 thousand US dollars to the organizers of the trip. Protocols on administrative offenses have been drawn up in relation to the detainees.
Border guards regularly report the detention of groups of men who try to illegally cross the state border outside checkpoints.
On June 12, the spokesman of the State Security Service reported that during the martial law, more than 480 criminal groups were exposed, which were involved in the organization of illegal crossing of the state border. He noted that border guards detain people who try to illegally cross the western border every day.
The Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko said that he has information on the total number of men of draft age detained at the border since the beginning of the full-scale war, but refused to divulge these statistics. According to him, this is closed information.
