Russia's war against Ukraine did not start by chance, but by the sole decision of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Today, the Russian Federation is conducting hostilities against Ukraine almost throughout the country. Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, told about this.
In his speech, Podolyak emphasized that the formal meeting of the Russian Security Council served only to legalize the "collective crime" committed by the Russian leadership. He expressed doubt that the Russian people would quickly oppose the war, and noted that hopes that the Russians would react to human and economic losses were not fulfilled. The losses and the constant pressure of propaganda not only embittered the population, but also strengthened the hatred for everything Ukrainian.
Podoliak noted that those who oppose the war were either forced to shut up or arrested. Instead, propaganda for war with Ukraine and NATO spreads through all possible channels of communication in Russia - from museum tours to school textbooks, theater performances and television programs. Russian propaganda is so deeply rooted that the population no longer has any doubts that "Russia is waging a war for survival against democratic states."
"This is a classic genocidal war of an aggressor against a sovereign state, and the aggressor is exclusively Russia. At the same time, the propaganda mythology that develops in the trenches becomes part of the new Russian identity," Podolyak added.
The adviser to the head of the OP also warned that Ukrainians should be prepared for the fact that the destruction of their country will become part of the identity of many Russians.
"Today, in the battles, not only a new Ukrainian elite is born, but also a new Russian one - as vile and cannibalistic as possible. It will be impossible to destroy the complex propaganda mythology during the lifetime of one generation, which grows up considering Ukrainians as enemies," Podolyak summarized.
He urged Ukrainians to be aware of the reality and prepare for the long and difficult conditions that the country may face in the future.
