Putin ordered Kursk region back under control before Trump's inauguration

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered his military commanders to intensify efforts to regain control of Kursk Oblast by January 20, 2025, the date of the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump. This is reported by the British publication The Telegraph with reference to its own sources.

Citing sources in British military intelligence, the publication reports that the Kremlin is also seeking to use its counteroffensive in Kursk Oblast to gain momentum and advance into Sumy Oblast.

The Russian Federation has already regained approximately half of the territory in the Kursk region that was previously controlled by Ukraine, The Telegraph notes.
