Putin's “Interim Administration”: A New Attempt to Manipulate Peace Processes in Ukraine

Vladimir Putin has again made a provocative statement, proposing to discuss the possibility of introducing an “interim administration” in Ukraine. According to the Russian leader, such administration could be carried out under the auspices of the UN and with the participation of other countries, including the United States and Russia’s European partners. Putin assured that such administration would be necessary to hold “democratic elections,” and under his control, peace talks could begin and “legitimate documents” could be signed that would be recognized worldwide.

Putin's statement was made during his communication with the sailors of the nuclear submarine cruiser Arkhangelsk, and was aimed at creating the appearance of a peace process and expanding Russia's sphere of influence in Ukraine. However, such a proposal caused a sharp reaction from the United States and Europe. A representative of the White House National Security Council noted that the issue of power in Ukraine is determined by the country's Constitution and its people, and therefore there can be no question of "interim administration". The United States emphasized that power in Ukraine is the sovereign right of its citizens and no outside proposals can influence this process.

Meanwhile, Putin did not ignore the issue of the Ukrainian battalion “Azov”, which, according to him, “is acquiring de facto power”. This, according to the Russian leader, is one of the problems for stability in Ukraine. However, the White House quickly reacted to his statements, stating that Ukraine will not agree to any “interim administration” and that these talks are unacceptable.

These statements, in particular, question the very concept of peace negotiations and add even more tension to the international political situation. Putin is trying to return to diplomatic initiatives, but his proposals are unacceptable to Kyiv and its Western allies, which emphasizes Ukraine's sovereignty and its right to independently determine its political future.

The main question remains whether Putin can find compromises or new ways to achieve his goals without violating international norms and laws. At the same time, his ambitions to control Ukraine continue to disappoint not only Ukrainians but also the international community, which is committed to supporting Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.
