Russian President Vladimir Putin's winter offensive in Ukraine has not been successful, BILD reports. In the three months since the start of the Russian aggression in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, the Russian armed forces have not achieved significant results, only inflicting casualties among their own soldiers and the loss of more than 400 units of military equipment.
The Russian military has not gained control of Kupyansk in Kharkiv Oblast and Avdiivka in Donetsk Oblast, even after three months of active military operations.
"North of Avdiivka, Russian soldiers have stopped near the small village of Petrivske — the Ukrainian army is holding defenses there with the help of kamikaze drones and Bradley armored personnel carriers. There have been no serious changes on this section of the front for several months, so the Russians cannot surround Avdiivka yet," the report said.
The day before, Russian troops were also stuck north of Kupyansk, where Ukrainian forces liberated the city in the fall of 2022. Russian tank companies are stuck in minefields, and Ukrainian army drones are being used to successfully overcome Russian equipment.
“Following Russian attacks involving thousands of soldiers in November and December, there have been smaller clashes that have continued over the past week. Russia will likely have to build up reserves again before it can go on the offensive again,” the report added.
