Ukraine is negotiating with its international partners about a possible lowering of the mobilization age, but this issue does not cause tensions or disagreements. According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhiy Tykhi, the main focus is on providing the already mobilized servicemen with the necessary weapons and equipment, and not on additional mobilization.
Heorhiy Tyhiy confirmed that the issue of lowering the mobilization age is being discussed as part of general negotiations with international partners, in particular with the USA and EU countries. At the same time, he emphasized:
"This is not a critical or stressful issue. We initiate this discussion, we inform partners about the dynamics of mobilization and the size of the army, but this is only one of many topics along with sanctions, defense strategies and deterring the aggressor.”
The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the main challenge remains to provide the army with modern equipment. According to him:
"We lack a sufficient number of weapons and equipment for those already mobilized. There is a need to speed up the delivery of announced aid.”
Ukraine does not consider the increase in the number of mobilized people to be the main problem. Instead, the priority is to effectively equip the existing forces.
The discussion of a possible lowering of the mobilization age to 18 caused a certain resonance, but Ukrainian diplomats assure that this issue does not cause conflicts with partners. The main thing remains coordination with the international community for faster supply of the necessary resources.
