Ranking of Ukrainian universities: which universities are chosen by the strongest students

The website Vstup.Osvita.ua has published an annual ranking of Ukrainian higher education institutions based on the results of the 2024 admission campaign. The ranking takes into account average scores on the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT), the number of applicants enrolled on budget and contract, as well as the number of students studying at private universities.

Highest points per contract: who is leading?

According to the ranking, the highest contract scores were received by applicants to the following universities:

  1. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv – 154.48 points, 3,471 students.
  2. Ukrainian Catholic University – 153.38 points, 467 students.
  3. Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv – 152.57 points, 2,705 students.
  4. Lviv Polytechnic National University – 148.46 points, 3,596 students.

In total, in 2024, more than 187 thousand applicants were enrolled in Ukrainian higher education institutions for budget and contract places.

Highest scores on budget: who holds the leading positions?

In budget places, the highest average NMT scores are at the following universities:

  1. Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv – 165.81 points, 2,375 students.
  2. NTUU “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” – 162.25 points, 2878 students.
  3. University “Kyiv School of Economics” – 161.16 points, 58 students.
  4. Lviv Polytechnic National University – 160.82 points, 2,422 students.

Private universities: how many applicants chose to study at private institutions?

The largest number of applicants to private universities in 2024 was recorded at the following institutions:

  1. International Humanities University – 785 students.
  2. Kyiv University of Culture – 696 students.
  3. Lviv University of Trade and Economics – 676 students.
  4. King Daniel University – 667 students.

Number of entrants on budget and contract

The ranking of universities by the number of applicants for budget places is as follows:

  1. NTUU “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” – 2878 students.
  2. Lviv Polytechnic National University – 2,422 students.
  3. Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv – 2,375 students.

The contract is led by:

  1. Lviv Polytechnic National University – 3,596 students.
  2. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv – 3,471 students.
  3. State University of Trade and Economics – 3019 students.

This rating helps future applicants and educators better navigate the choice of a university, understand which educational institutions are chosen by the strongest students, and which universities have the most budget places.
