651 bankruptcy cases of citizens have already been opened in Ukraine this year, which is almost twice as many as compared to the previous four months. This is reported by Opendatabot with reference to the data of the Supreme Court of Ukraine. This number exceeded even the indicators for the whole of last year, when 575 cases were considered.
According to the data, 64% of bankrupts are people aged 25 to 45, and another 28.7% are over 45. The gender distribution is almost equal: 51% of bankrupts are women , the remaining 48% are men .
The largest number of bankruptcy cases were opened in Kyiv (95 cases, or 15% of the total), followed by Kyiv region (58 cases, or 9%) and Dnipropetrovsk region (53 cases, or 8%).
Reasons for growth
Experts believe that such dynamics are due to "delayed demand" due to a full-scale war. At the beginning of the war, debts were not a priority for citizens, and there was also a moratorium on the collection of some debts. With its cancellation, debtors began to turn more actively to the court to solve their financial problems through the bankruptcy procedure.
Arbitration administrator Denys Lykhopek emphasizes that the cancellation of the moratorium on debt collection was one of the main reasons for this sharp increase in the number of bankruptcy cases.
