The British Reuters Information Agency again came into account the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies after the online broadcasting from the Independence Square in Kiev has started without appropriate permission. This incident was recorded by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Timur Tkachenko.
Today, March 4, Reuters launched a stream from the center of Kiev. In the description to the broadcast was indicated:
“View of the Kiev Independence Square after the White House official said that US President Donald Trump has suspended military assistance to Ukraine after its clash with President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky last week.”
The video shows the Maidan and flags in honor of the dead Ukrainian military.
The KMVA stated that Reuters did not apply for the broadcast permission.
“They turned to the SBU. The broadcast was stopped promptly, ”Tkachenko wrote.
This is not the first case of the Agency's broadcast from Kiev. On February 18, Reuters already launched a live broadcast from the Maidan, which caused a negative reaction from the authorities and the public. After that, the stream was stopped. In the context of martial law in Ukraine there are restrictions on photo and video recording in public places, in particular in the capital. Such measures are aimed at preventing the leakage of sensitive information that can be used by the enemy.
We will remind, according to the CEO of the Center for Analysis of European Policy Alina Polyakova, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is the main beneficiary of a tense situation between the US and Ukraine. She believes that Moscow can take advantage of the moment until the tension between Kiev and Washington remains high, and to offer Ukraine a "peace agreement", which will actually mean its surrender.
