Resonant Murder 2012: What happened to Oksana Makar killers?

In 2012, in Nikolaev, a brutal murder of 18-year-old Oksana Makar was held, which stunned all of Ukraine. The girl was raped, strangled, and then tried to burn to hide the traces of the crime. Oksana survived, but received severe burns and after three weeks of struggle for a lifetime died in hospital.

In Nikolaev, on March 9, 2012, a brutal rape of an 18-year-old girl Oksana Makar occurred, which later caused death. Three guys Yevgeny Krasnoshch, Maxim Prysyazhnyuk and Artem Pogosyan drunk Oksana, and then lured her into the apartment of one of them. Then they staged a group rape. When the girl threatened what she was saying to the police, the boys suppressed her, but she survived.

After that, the tormentors wrapped Oksana's body in a blanket and took it to the abandoned construction, laid there and set fire to. The victim suffered 55% of body burns, but survived. On the morning of March 10, she was found by a casual passerby. Doctors fought for 20 days for the life of Makar, but on March 29 she died from cardiac arrest.

Being conscious, the victim told investigators about the attackers, named their names. The possible motive of this cruel crime was probably the fact that Oksana had previously denied one of them - Maxim Prysyazhnyuk - in his courtship.

This murder became resonant, the whole of Ukraine was buzzing about it, the media wrote, people demanded a fair punishment for Oksana rapists, and for her treatment was collected by indifferent people. The then President Yanukovych instructed the Chief Prosecutor of Pshonka to take this resonant crime for personal control.

How the killers were punished

The investigation in this case took several months. All this time, the suspects are Yevgeny Krasnoshch, Maxim Prysyazhnyuk and Artem Pogosyan were in custody and care of the media. They themselves confessed to the committed.

In the end, the Central District Court of Nikolaev sentenced everyone to imprisonment. Krasnoshko received a life imprisonment, Prisyajnyuk - 15 years in prison, and Polesyan - 14 years of imprisonment.

After the appeal in May 2013, the Nikolaev Court of Appeal agreed with the decision of the first instance and left the sentences. And in 2019, the Central District Court of Nikolaev refused to review the case of Yevgeny Krasnoshchka. By the way, in 2024 and 2025 Prysyazhnyuk and Pogosyan could already leave prison, while Krasnoshko would sit on.

After the tragic death of Oksana Makar was buried on March 31 in the village of Shevchenkovo, Mykolaiv region. In a white coffin she lay in a beautiful wedding dress, even her face was visible.

A year later, in 2013, a monument was erected on the girl's grave in the form of a rectangular plate. On the one hand, a photo of Oksana with two animals, similar to chinchillas and the inscription "From mom, dad, relatives and loved ones". On the other hand, the image of the Virgin Mary with the baby in her arms and epitaph.
