The annual competition for the title of the best Christmas market in Europe ended with the victory of the Polish city, which impressed visitors with its fabulous festive town. This year, the Christmas fair in the city of Gdansk won the championship, leaving behind worthy rivals from Romania and Switzerland.
The Christmas market in Gdansk, Poland, was recognized as the best in Europe in 2024. This is evidenced by the survey conducted by the influential travel portal Europe's Best Destinations among more than 753 thousand travelers from around the world.
It is noted that more than 90,000 survey participants voted for this year's Gdańsk Christmas Fair, who noted the special fairy-tale atmosphere prevailing here.
“This event wraps locals and visitors alike in a festive atmosphere, offering intimate dining and charming shopping areas where delicious treats and perfect holiday gifts await. The fair is a center of art exhibitions and magical creative corners, organically combining theater, dance, Christmas carols and making holiday decorations. Strolling through the picturesque streets of Gdańsk, visitors can discover magical places such as Santa's corner, the famous Lucek moose shelter, the wonderful Venetian carousel and the angelic corner lit up with fascinating lights", - this is how the authors of the survey characterize the festive atmosphere in Gdańsk.
The second place in the ranking went to the Christmas market in the Romanian city of Craiova, which was called the most beautiful and largest in Europe, and the third place went to Geneva, Switzerland, as the best Christmas destination for a city break.
