Ukrainian users have become victims of a new wave of cyberattacks: fraudsters are sending fake messages about "debt" to the Nova Poshta company. This was reported by the Center for Combating Disinformation of the NSDC and confirmed by the company itself on its official Facebook page.
On the morning of December 25, cybercriminals began sending e-mails to Ukrainians en masse, in which they mentioned the alleged existing debt to Novaya Poshta. These messages contain malicious links or attachments that, if opened, could lead to the theft of users' personal data or the infection of their devices with viruses.
The company "Nova poshta" denied its involvement in this mailing and emphasized that no debt claims are sent through e-mails.
The purpose of fake messages is to gain access to users' personal data. For this, fraudsters use intimidation tactics, convincing people of the urgency of paying a non-existent debt.
Recommendations for protection
- Ignore suspicious messages. Do not open attachments or links if you receive such an email.
- Check the source. Contact Nova Poshta via the official website or hotline if you doubt the veracity of the information.
- Install an antivirus program. Run a full scan of your device.
- Update your system. If you suspect the device has been compromised, consider reinstalling the operating system.
The cyber security unit of Novaya Poshta is already analyzing the attack and is working on blocking the servers from which the mailing is carried out. The company urges customers to be vigilant and follow the recommendations to avoid possible risks.
