According to the analysis of the United Nations, on July 8, a Russian missile directly hit the "Okhmatdit" children's hospital in Kyiv. This was announced by the head of the UN human rights monitoring mission, Danielle Bell.
According to Bell, the analysis of the video footage and the circumstances of the event show a high probability that the missile hit the hospital directly, and not as a result of the interception of the missile. She noted that her team cannot yet draw a final conclusion, but there are strong grounds to believe that the missile was launched by Russia.
Bell also noted that hospital staff evacuated the children to bunkers in time after the air raid sirens first went off, which likely reduced the number of casualties.
At the same time, Russian propagandists and some officials continue to accuse Ukraine of destroying the hospital, claiming that the facility was hit by a missile from a NASAMS or Patriot anti-aircraft missile system. Telegram channel "War with fakes" publishes a version according to which the missile depicted in the video fully corresponds to the characteristics of the air defense system, and also emphasizes the absence of sounds characteristic of the Kh-101 missile.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that their missile was aimed at a military facility, refusing to recognize the fact that the hospital was shelled. Dmytro Peskov, Putin's official representative, emphasized that the situation with the attack on the hospital was about the vulnerability of the "anti-missile". Ukrainian law enforcement officers, for their part, found new evidence indicating that the attack on the Okhmatdyt hospital was a targeted attack by the Russian troops with an Kh-101 missile, supported by debris typical of this type of weapon and the nature of the destruction, which corresponds to the impact of such missiles .
