On the night of September 7, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Kyiv with attack drones, probably of the Shahed type. However, thanks to the effective work of Ukrainian air defense, not a single drone reached its goal.
According to the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA), enemy drones began entering the territory of Ukraine before midnight from various directions, and reached Kyiv around 3:00 a.m. The air alert lasted only 18 minutes, but the anti-aircraft defenses were effective, shooting down all the drones that threatened the city.
In the Pechersk district of Kyiv, fragments of downed drones fell at four different addresses, causing fires in open areas. In one of the places, the flame covered an area of 50 square meters, but it was quickly extinguished. In the Dnipro district, debris fell near a kindergarten, but according to preliminary data, there were no casualties.
Around 3:00 a.m., residents of the central districts of the capital heard loud explosions, which were associated with the operation of the air defense system. Despite the flurry of blows, the city managed to avoid serious destruction.
This night attack is another example of how Russian forces continue to try to damage civilian infrastructure, but Ukrainian defenses are successfully protecting the capital.
