At night, Lviv Oblast was attacked by Russian "Shahedy", reports the head of the Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi. According to him, the air defense forces were able to shoot down all five drones, but the wreckage of the Shaheds caused destruction in Lviv and its surroundings, where at least two people were injured. The damage was recorded in Malekhov of the city community and in the city center.
According to the data of the "West" air command, during the first night alert, which lasted from 02:32 to 03:35, four Russian drones flew into the territory of Lviv region. About an hour later, another "Shaheed" tried to attack.
The remains of the downed drones fell on the village of Malekhiv in the Lviv community, the local authorities were the first to report this. The mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovy published in his telegram photos of a partially destroyed building of one of the research institutes in the city.
According to Maksym Kozytskyi, the administrative building of the State Research Control Institute of Veterinary Medicines and Feed Additives was damaged. "The wreckage of the unmanned aerial vehicles caused damage to the roof, walls, and ceiling of the second floor, approximately on an area of 800 square meters," he said in his message.
Andriy Sadovy also shared photos of the destruction in one of Malekhov's housing estates, where a multi-story residential building was damaged with broken windows in five buildings.
The head of the Lviv OVA added that a 70-year-old man was hospitalized in Malekhov with moderate injuries, including acubarotrauma, shrapnel wounds and several fractures. Another victim, a 47-year-old man, suffered cuts and was treated at the scene.
Andriy Sadovy also noted that the 70-year-old man is a security guard of one of the office premises.
In general, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported shooting down 19 of the 21 Shahed drones that were launched by Russia at night.
In June, Russia carried out several massive strikes against Ukraine in the rear regions, targeting energy infrastructure and military airfields, in particular in Starokostyantynov. So far, there have been no attacks on Lviv itself on the border with Poland for several months.
