Russian troops plan to create a buffer zone to stop the advance of Ukrainian units into the Belgorod region, but there is a threat of their further advance, which could affect Kharkiv.
This was stated by the commander of the Second Battalion of the Third Assault Brigade, Dmitry Kukharchuk. According to him, the Russians intend to create a 20-kilometer zone to prevent the Ukrainian military from advancing on the Belgorod region and neighboring regions. He emphasized that this does not mean that they will not continue their offensive further.
Additionally, Kukharchuk noted that if Russian forces do not encounter a foothold, they could reach the Dnieper and even continue further.
Regarding Kharkiv, he noted that the threat exists, but not in the near future.
“The coming months are the period when I do not see a threat to Kharkiv, but in the next six months such a possibility exists,” Kukharchuk concluded.
