This is reported by both Ukrainian and Russian sources.
According to the Ukrainian military publication Deep State, the Russians approached Chasy Yaru from the east to the south of Bohdanivka and entered houses on the outskirts of the city.
"Given the situation with the enemy occupying positions in the vicinity, street battles may begin in Chasiv Yar in the near future," comments the public.
The American "Institute for the Study of War" reports that on April 4, Russian troops conducted an "intensified mechanized assault" in the direction of Chasiv Yar and advanced to the eastern outskirts of the settlement along the road from Khromovo.
During the attack, the troops approached the outskirts of the Kanal neighborhood, while, according to some Ukrainian military personnel, losing about a dozen armored vehicles. The "Institute" report does not mention the fact that houses on the outskirts were occupied.
Some Russian publications write that the Russian army is already in the city, others say that the Russians have not yet entered Chasiv Yar itself, but are close to its outskirts.
According to their information, the paratroopers entrenched themselves in the forest next to neighboring houses - not far from PTU No. 77, as well as the stadium.
The Kanal microdistrict takes its name from the Siverskyi Donets - Donbas canal, which passes there. At the same time, it lies underground in this area, so it is not an obstacle for a further assault on the city.
