A veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Reserve Major Oleksiy Hetman, said that the Russian occupying forces are preparing for an offensive in the Sumy region. According to him, there are obvious signs of preparation.
"The Russians are obviously planning active actions in this region. The situation is very similar to what we saw in the Kharkiv direction. There are clear signs of preparations for offensive actions, and in most cases these signs are confirmed," Hetman noted.
The expert emphasized that the preparation for the attack is evidenced by the increase in the activity of sabotage and intelligence groups (DRG), shelling and the activity of communication means. However, due to the lack of manpower, Russian troops cannot afford to keep thousands of soldiers near the northern border of Ukraine without active action.
"The probability that an attack will take place is nine out of ten. They may try to distract our defense and stretch the Ukrainian troops, but most signs indicate serious intentions," Hetman emphasized.
Other experts also warn about the possible activation of Russian forces near Sumy region. Ihor Lapin, a special agent and officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, noted that the enemy is accumulating forces to stretch Ukrainian reserves.
Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political commentator of the Information Resistance group, warned that Russian troops could open a new front in Sumy Oblast. According to his data, the group, concentrated in the Kursk region, is much less powerful than in the Belgorod region.
Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups constantly check the defense of Ukraine in the Sumy region, but the Defense Forces effectively destroy the enemy both on the territory of the region and on the territory of Russia. This was reported by the spokesman of the Operational-Tactical Group "Siversk", Vadym Mysnyk.
