Analysts of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported an increase in the pace of offensive operations by Russian troops in the Donetsk region, at the same time announcing a decrease in the intensity of attacks in the north of the Kharkiv region.
According to the report, Russian troops intensified their actions in the direction of Toretsk-Horlivka, achieving several tactical victories. Analysts note that earlier this direction of the front was not very active in 2024, so the change in the situation requires attention.
The pace of offensive operations in the north of the Kharkiv region has sharply decreased, which, according to the command of the Russian Armed Forces, was due to the goal of maintaining Ukrainian forces and material resources to support the offensive in the Donetsk region.
Some Ukrainian military units were redeployed from Donetsk region to Kharkiv region, which can be used by the enemy to strengthen attacks, in particular in the direction of Toretsk-Horlivka.
Experts believe that Russia's summer offensive may be aimed at eastern Ukraine in order to stretch the limited resources of the Ukrainian forces.
