Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported an increase in the pace of offensive operations by Russian troops in the Donetsk region, while simultaneously announcing a decrease in the intensity of attacks in the north of the Kharkiv region.
According to the report, Russian troops have intensified their operations in the Toretsk-Horlivka direction, achieving several tactical victories. Analysts note that this direction of the front was previously little active in 2024, so the change in the situation requires attention.
The pace of offensive operations in the north of the Kharkiv region has sharply decreased, which, according to the command of the Russian Armed Forces, was due to the goal of maintaining Ukrainian forces and material resources to support the offensive in the Donetsk region.
Some Ukrainian military units have been redeployed from the Donetsk region to the Kharkiv region, which could be used by the enemy to strengthen attacks, in particular in the Toretsk-Horlivka direction.
Experts believe that Russia's summer offensive could be aimed at eastern Ukraine in order to stretch the limited resources of Ukrainian forces.
