The Security Service of Ukraine and the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reported the detention of a 19-year-old resident of Kyiv region, who tried to carry out a terrorist attack in the capital at the task of the special services of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigation, the young man was recruited through pro-Russian Telegram channels, where he was looking for "easy earnings". After the instruction from the curator, the attacker rented an apartment in Kiev, made a homemade explosive device (SVP) independently, installed it in a scooter and prepared a terrorist attack plan.
The agent elected the victim of the National Guard serviceman. To lure him to the crime scene, the attackers used the girl's fake account on the dating site and organized a "date" in one of the capital's yards.
When the military arrived in the specified place, the SVP, located in the scooter, was remotely blown up. Fortunately, the explosion did not harm - the victim remained intact.
After the failure of the operation, the agent received a new task from the curators: to go to the city of Pryluky in Chernihiv. There he had to set fire to a military car and cook a new terrorist attack.
Law enforcement officers detained the person involved immediately after the fire. During the search, he found components to the explosive and a mobile phone with evidence of communication with Russian special services.
Currently, the SBU investigators have informed him about suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is a terrorist act that provides up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The case once again demonstrates how the Russian Federation tries to conduct terrorist activity in peaceful Ukrainian cities, using young people as a tool for hybrid war.
