Russia hit Ukraine with Shahed ballistic missiles and drones

On the night of November 18, Russian troops launched a massive strike on the territory of Ukraine, using two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, an Kh-59 air missile and 11 unmanned aerial vehicles. As the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported, thanks to the effective work of air defense, it was possible to shoot down 8 attack drones in several areas.

Details of the attack

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the shelling began in the evening of November 17 and continued until the night. From the territory of the Voronezh region, Russia launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles over the Sumy region. In addition, the Kh-59 guided missile was used, which was launched from the airspace of the Kursk region.

In addition to rocket fire, 11 unmanned aerial vehicles, including "Shahed" type attack drones, were launched from Kurshchyna. Air defense forces managed to shoot down eight of them in the Poltava, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions. Unfortunately, three drones were lost due to difficult weather conditions and the intensity of the attack.

Thanks to the operational work of the Air Force of Ukraine, it was possible to avoid significant destruction and casualties. However, the attack once again confirms that Russia continues to purposefully strike critical infrastructure and civilian objects.

"We are ready to defend against such strikes and will continue to strengthen the air defense system to protect our cities," the President's Office said.

This is not the first mass attack on Ukrainian regions in recent weeks. The enemy is trying to disable critical infrastructure before the winter cold, which could lead to power and heat blackouts in many cities.

Ukrainian air defense forces continue to effectively repel enemy attacks, however, due to the intensity of shelling in the country, temporary problems with power supply and communication are possible.

Ukraine is preparing for new possible attacks and continues to strengthen its defense capabilities. Authorities urge citizens to be prepared for emergency situations and follow the instructions of local authorities in case of air alerts.

It is worth remembering the importance of observing safety rules during air alarms and, if possible, hiding in specially equipped shelters.
