On the morning of September 2, Kyiv and the region became the object of a massive missile attack by Russia. This was reported by the spokesman of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army "South" Serhii Bratchuk in a comment on Channel 24. According to him, Russian troops have changed their shelling tactics, which indicates new threats to the air defense system of Ukraine.
New shelling tactics
According to Bratchuk, air defense forces successfully destroyed more than a dozen cruise missiles, about ten ballistic missiles and one attack drone. This shows that the Ukrainian air defense system has withstood the stress, despite massive attacks.
However, Russian forces have changed their tactics, using combined strikes, which include the use of large numbers of Shahed-type drones along with missiles of various types - aerodynamic, ballistic and others. Such a strategy is designed to exhaust Ukrainian air defense, creating additional difficulties for effective interception of threats.
Changing the trajectory of missiles
In particular, a new feature of the attacks was that Russian missiles change their flight path. At the beginning, they fly in one direction, and then change course, returning to Kyiv. This complicates the task for the air defense system and increases the effectiveness of attacks.
Stockpiles of missiles and drones
Bratchuk also noted that Russian troops have prepared for such massive strikes, which indicates a significant stockpile of missiles and drones. Ukrainian intelligence reports an increase in the production of X-101 missiles in Russia. At the same time, 90% of components for these missiles, including electronics, are supplied to Russia through China, which receives them from Western countries.
This news highlights the ongoing challenges facing the Ukrainian air defense system. Changing tactics of Russian attacks and the use of new technologies endanger the security of Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine, requiring further improvement of defense systems and strategies.
