On August 8, 2024, Russia carried out a terrorist attack on a supermarket in Kostyantynivka, Donetsk region, which usually has many visitors. As a result of the attack, there are dead and almost two dozen injured.
The head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Vadym Filashkin, said that two people were killed and 17 wounded. According to him, Russian troops shelled the city with barrel artillery, hitting a supermarket. It was another act of terror aimed at a place of gathering of people. One of the wounded is in serious condition and is receiving the necessary medical assistance.
Filashkin noted that the final consequences of the shelling are still being established. The police, rescuers, medics and other responsible services are working on the spot.
The "Donbas Operative" Telegram channel clarifies that there was a direct hit on the "Ekomarket" supermarket, which caused a fire. Information about the victims is still being ascertained.
The office of the President of Ukraine has already reacted to this act of terrorism. The head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, said in his Telegram account: "The attack on the supermarket in Kostyantynivka is another terror of the Russians. Civilian warfare is all they can do. Russia must feel full retribution for everything it does."
This act of violence once again underscores the scale of terror that Russia is using in its war against the civilian population of Ukraine. The international community and the Ukrainian authorities continue to condemn such crimes and call to account all those involved in these acts of aggression.
