This morning, December 7, Russian troops launched an attack on the city of Konotop in the Sumy region. Around 06:17, residents of the city heard explosions, which, according to the mayor Artem Semenikhin, were the result of the launch of ballistic missiles from the temporarily occupied Crimea.
"This ballistics is from Crimea. It still reaches us. The launch was carried out from the Perekop Isthmus, which allowed the rockets to reach our city," Semenikhin said.
The damage situation causes conflicting reports. The Sumy regional military administration stated that the strike was aimed at infrastructure facilities in Konotop. Emergency services are currently on the scene to determine the consequences of the attack.
At the same time, the mayor of the city denied any damage or destruction. According to him, neither residential nor infrastructural objects were damaged, so work involving services is not being carried out.
Russia continues to attack populated areas of the Sumy region, using both ballistic missiles and drones.
