On October 1, 2024, the Russian occupiers dealt a terrible blow to the center of Kherson, shelling the local market. The attack claimed the lives of several civilians and left many injured. Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson regional military administration, announced this.

According to preliminary information, the shelling took place around 9:00 a.m., when Kherson residents were shopping at the market. According to Prokudin, the strike damaged shopping centers and a public transport stop where people were.
"Trade points where people from Kherson bought or sold products in the morning came under attack," Prokudin said.

According to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, seven civilians were killed - three women and four men. Three people were injured and are currently being treated. The National Police reported six deaths.
