An outbreak of acute intestinal infection caused by rotavirus has been recorded in one of the kindergartens in Chernihiv. Six children and one adult have been affected. This was reported by the Chernihiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The outbreak occurred over the past week. As of December 25, all infected people have been hospitalized and are receiving necessary treatment. According to Artem Yaroshenko, deputy general director of the regional control center, the main symptoms of the disease were diarrhea, vomiting, and fever.
To contain the situation at the children's institution, a number of anti-epidemic measures have been organized, including disinfection of premises, inspection of food products, and medical examination of contact persons.
Rotavirus infection is a highly contagious disease that often affects young children. It is transmitted by the fecal-oral route, through contaminated food, water, or contact with contaminated surfaces.
Symptoms of the disease include:
- diarrhea;
- vomiting;
- high temperature;
- general weakness.
Doctors emphasize the importance of hygiene to prevent the spread of infection. If you develop symptoms of rotavirus, you should seek medical attention immediately.
Such outbreaks, according to experts, often occur in childcare facilities due to high overcrowding of children and possible violations of sanitary standards.
The situation is currently under control. Experts continue to monitor to prevent the possible spread of infection. Parents are asked to monitor the health of their children and ensure proper hygiene at home.
