In the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine, law enforcement officers uncovered a new scheme for organizing fictitious marriages aimed at evading conscription into the country's Armed Forces. According to the report, a 28-year-old resident of the region was suspected of organizing this criminal scheme.
"A 28-year-old resident of the Mykolaiv region developed a criminal scheme to evade conscription-age persons from mobilization by concluding a fictitious marriage with women with disabilities," the Kyiv region police reported on Telegram.
According to the police, it was established that "the perpetrator offered men to marry people with disabilities in order to facilitate the illegal transportation of evaders across the state border of Ukraine."
As indicated, the woman offered her services for a monetary reward through the Telegram channel.
"After the marriage was registered, while receiving an illegal monetary reward in the amount of 5,000 dollars, law enforcement officers detained the accused and placed her in a detention center. Material evidence has been seized," the police said.
The perpetrators reported their suspicions under (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code). The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. She faces up to nine years in prison.
