On the night of Saturday, a tragic event took place in the Gaysyn district of the Vinnytsia region: two people, dressed in military uniforms, opened fire on patrolmen who stopped their car. The incident led to the death of a 20-year-old police officer, and his colleague was injured.
The police are actively searching for criminals in the Vinnytsia and Odesa regions. The operative services have already identified persons who are probably involved in this crime.
A video from the gas station's surveillance cameras is circulating on social networks, showing that the attackers were dressed in green-olive clothing, typical of the Ukrainian military. It is also noted that the car they were traveling in had a similar color.
The police confirm the authenticity of the recordings published on social networks, which depict the suspects. They show people dressed in military uniforms. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether they are real servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - this information is still being verified.
Similar military uniforms can be purchased in specialized stores, so wearing similar clothes by civilians is not an exception.
The suspect's car was stopped in the middle of the night for inspection, a police source emphasized. "It was a standard car check that happened at night. But the suspects opened fire," the representative added.
The search for the perpetrators continues. "Regardless of who and in what form, in what situation and for what reasons - this crime cannot be justified," - emphasized the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.
"The tragic event shows that even in the rear, the police cannot rest from the threat," he added.
