The Ukrainian Embassy and Consulate General in the city of Lublin contacted the police in connection with the incident that occurred at the border, when grain from a Ukrainian truck was spilled. This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland, Vasyl Zvarych.
A video of a protest action on the border between Poland and Ukraine appeared online on February 11. On it you can see people pouring grain from a truck. According to the embassy, this grain was intended for transit to Lithuania. This case caused outrage among Ukrainian users of social networks. Ambassador Vasyl Zvarych noted that the Polish police opened a case in connection with this incident.
"Such protest methods cannot be tolerated in a civilized European country, not to mention the moral aspect of this provocation. Therefore, we insist that the culprits be brought to justice. The Polish authorities should resolutely respond to this offensive incident for Ukrainians and the majority of Poles and not allow similar barbaric actions in the future," the ambassador emphasized.
On February 12, two more points on the border with Ukraine, "Ustylug" and "Ugryniv", were blocked in Poland. On February 11, Polish protesters stopped several Ukrainian trucks with Ukrainian grain at the entrance to the Dorogusk checkpoint and dumped the cargo from semi-trailers. The organizer of this action was Rafal Mekler, the Center for Combating Disinformation reports.
The Center for Combating Disinformation explained that Mekler is known in Poland as the head of the local branch of the Eurosceptic Confederation of Freedom and Independence party. He is also one of the organizers of the protests on the border between Poland and Ukraine and the head of one of the local logistics companies.
The "Confederation" party does not have significant demand among Poles, as it supports the idea of Poland leaving the European Union and getting closer to Moscow.
"This action by Meckler is clearly in the interests of Russia, which is interested in the conflict between Ukrainians and Poles and in reducing the support of Ukraine from the European Union. In addition, this action has become profitable for semi-criminal Polish groups, which are suspected of raiding schemes on the transportation market in the European Union," the Center for Combating Disinformation reports.
